Cowabunga? [Jul. 20th, 2006|10:03 pm]
[music |Ryan Adams]

So, there is a new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie coming out. This is something most of us geeks have known about for a while...years even.

Well here you go jerks...a trailer:

My personal feelings are mediocre. I would have preferred another live action film, but we're instead getting this. A CGI film, something I've known for awhile, and have had mixed feelings on since first learning about it (two years ago?). The ending of the trailer is pretty hilarious though, and definitely sets the proper mood for the movie.

The first TMNT movie is damn near untouchable in my opinion, because it captured the darker/grittier side of the comics. I'm hoping this one does the same, CGI aside.

Synchronized Hearts [Jul. 16th, 2006|06:38 pm]
[music |Bomb Bassets - The Only Way I Know]

Jen just left. We had a good weekend together. Ergs and a lot of alcohol on Thursday. Delicious food, Used Kids Records, napping, Hustler store, and more alcohol at J. Lewis' on Friday. Shopping, relaxing, and a pool party/get together at Nick Toerner's on Saturday. And today we just took it easy, and stayed out of the heat. I like Jen.

Friday Used Kids purchases:

I picked up four LPs at a buck each..

Squeeze - 45's and Under
Herman's Hermits - Blaze
XTC - Black Sea
Nilsson Schmilsson - Nilsson

a Garden Variety/Jejune split 7" for a buck

and The Fly Special Edition DVD for 8 bucks.

I bought a lot of comic books on Saturday, and I'll probably read those tonight. I read Civil War #2 already, and I liked it a lot. Although, maybe I'm stupid, but I'm confused...why was Spiderman in his old costume at the end of the issue, instead of his new-fangled one that Tony Stark built for him? I also bought and read Neil Gaiman's Eternals. I like it a lot, and I'm looking forward to the rest of the series.

Yeah yeah yeah...I hope this is a good week. I have a lot of school and a lot of work...I'm sure I'll hate my life.

Ergs on Thursday. This should be awesome. Nate Schmoe and Danny MoMac are coming into town tomorrow evening via bus, and Jen is getting into town on Thursday at around five. I'm picking Nate and Danny up from the bus stop, and then we're doing whatever. I have class at 7:30 in the morning on Thursday...my first day! Ugh! But whatever, then we're all piling into a couple of cars and heading to Columbus for 'dem' crazy mofos.

This show will be the best of the summer, minus the Baltimore Insub fest. This will be better in a way, though, because we'll get to see The Ergs play for forty-five minutes, as opposed to twenty-five minutes. Color me excited.

I've been letting really stupid things affect me in a really stupid way recently, and it's time for me to put a stop to it. I've never really been in this position before though, so this is all new to me, and I'm finding it hard to deal with a little bit. Blah, vague, I know.

Work is going better, and I don't dread it as much as I did before. And again, the money and hours are beyond amazing.

"Why do I always accuse you of lying? Because I use to be a liar..."

I missed what was apparently a really awesome show at my house this weekend. I'm a little sad about that, but I had a great time with Jen in Michigan. So, oh well, I guess.

According to the above paragraph, I visited Jen in Michigan this weekend. That is true. Arrived Thursday night, and stayed until this evening. It was awesome up until some minor unpleasantness involving a guy she use to date. Oh well, he showed his true colors (douche bag!), and I came out on top. Saw a show (some pretty good local Michigan bands), she made me Thai food, and we just hung out in general. The Hills Have Eyes remake...skip it!

I called off of work everyday last week because I was feeling pretty terrible. Not really sick, but just really worn down, and stressed out. I went and saw a doctor on Thursday, and she told me what I already knew. I was stressed out and needed to get some good, healthy, rest. But she said if it continued, I needed to come back and get blood work done just in case I have mono.

"what a shitty summer" [Jul. 4th, 2006|12:57 pm]
[mood |meh]
[music |Lanemeyer - What A Shitty Summer]

The Tattle Tales are playing at Top Cats tonight with Team Stray, Seedy Seeds, and 2 Inch Winky. It should be a good show, but probably sparsely attended. That is sad because I think a lot of people would enjoy The Tattle Tales (upbeat, keyboard heavy, pop music, with male/female vocals, and a lot of harmonies). The Seedy Seeds are pretty damned awesome too, and I would know, because I hear them practicing in my basement on occasion.

There is a show at our house this Friday as well...the debut of John Walsh. It should be a pretty awesome night. I may or may not be here for that. There is a slight chance I'll be in Michigan visiting Jen instead. I'm not entirely sure yet.

I guess I'm going to drink beer, and clean the house. Woooo, yay for the 4th!

hey saturday [Jul. 1st, 2006|02:10 pm]
[mood |bored/tired/fuck]
[music |Kind of Like Spitting - You I Seek]

Hank Williams III was awesome last night. He did about forty-five minutes of straight up country music, and then moved on to a more Pantera style metal/hardcore set. That was not really my cup of tea, so I snuck out, and went upstairs to the bar where Straw Boss were playing. I'm happy to announce that Straw Boss were amazing. At one point one of their friends came on stage to do lead vocals for a couple of songs, and I shit you not, he sounded dead on Johnny Cash. It really blew my mind. I definitely want to catch Straw Boss again. It is perfect Saturday night boozing music.

My plans for today kind of fell through, so now I'm bored, and will probably take a five hour nap until it is time to meet up with Theo and some people later to go bar hopping and see old friends. I haven't seen Julie in literally eight years, so that should be interesting.

Hank Williams III is tomorrow night, and it's going to be awesome. I suspect I'll end up quite drunk, along with Mike, Matt, Justin, and whoever else is going. The only other time this year I've been this excited about a show was the Baltimore fest. I suspect this will be one of the best shows I see this year.

The Ergs in Columbus on the 13th of July will also be amazing. To sweeten the deal, Jen is coming down to visit for that show, and she's staying for a few days to hang out and see me. Nice. On top of that, Danny MoMac, and Nate Schmoe are getting into town that Wednesday night, crashing here, and then hitching a ride up to Columbus with me for the show. July 12th - 16th will probably end up being four or five of the best days of the summer. I'm stoked.
