[music |Lucero - The Blue and Gray]

Mom's birthday tomorrow night.

Hank Williams III on Friday night at Southgate House.

Hanging out with Julie, whom I haven't seen in eight years, on Saturday (probably).

Recovering on Sunday.

I'm in a bad mood, and 151 does not taste good, but it does temporarily feel good.

Also, I just remember that The Tattle Tales played "Sweater" at the fest. That makes me smile, because that song is so effing good.

The fest in Baltimore was fun.

The Leftovers played two shows in Cincinnati last week, and crashed with us for two nights and two days. Awesome guys, and I hope they come back again soon.

I went to Michigan over the weekend to visit Jen. We drank whiskey, went record shopping, got slurpees and ice cream, went for walks, went and saw Nacho Libre, hung out, and watched porn. The rest is none of your business.

I have tomorrow off. I'm going to go grocery shopping, clean the house, find an apartment to live in next year, and in general do all of the things that I have been neglecting as far as getting shit in order goes.

if you weren't there, you won't understand [Jun. 20th, 2006|01:30 am]
Okay, so, if you weren't in Baltimore over the past weekend, you will really not get any of this, and are probably better off just skipping this. You've been warned.

****This was originally posted on the Pop Punk Message Board, so I am talking directly at people who read it****

I will keep this as short as possible, and hopefully this will die quickly...

Highlights of the fest:

Delay (representing Ohio in the best way possible)
Team Stray (I can say this because I've seen them a billion times..easily the best sounding show of their career thus far)
Steinways (as much as I may hate you as people, even I must admit that was a pretty great set)
The Ergs (ummm, fucking duh....Nick, Sebby, and myself....fucking duh)
The Copyrights (we've already moved to Utah, and I've married everyone of those beautiful fucks)
Tattle Tales (you stupid dicks need to stop being so good at harmonies, see you dicks on the 4th of July)
The AV Club (probably the best sounding set of the fest)
CBGaV (seriously, don't make that a reunion show, make that the first show of a reunion tour, I think I came a little during that set)
Geisha Lightning (Mike, you're a genius)
The Mopes (goes without fucking saying)

Let downs:

Varsity Weirdos cancelling
Missing ASIH

I met a lot of new people this weekend, and saw a lot of familiar faces. It was amazing, and I dare not venture into trying to explain it play by play. I will have a Chadd moment, and become overly gay/sentimental, and just say that I love you all, and this weekend helped cement that for me. We have a great thing going, and I think we all need to try our hardest to keep it going. We all -- mostly -- live pretty far from each other, but when get together there is an almost instant *click* feeling, and we're never really awkward, and never run out of things to say, and I can think of no better feeling in the world.

I mean, if last August's mini-fest, and November's camping trip wasn't already enough for us to realize this, I'd say this weekend pretty much sealed the deal. I absolutely adore getting to see you folks, and getting the opportunity to travel and participate in awesome weekends like this.

Also, I've already met a lot, even possibly most of you...but here is who I met this weekend, and I believe you are all amazing people...

Drew (yes, next time, we really will bust someone over the head with a half full bottle of Beam)
Sebby (I think sweated on you more than other person present)
Mark (MW) (the war is not yet over, sir)
Patrick (you are not nearly as tall as I imagined you..nay sir...you are quite short)
Chris A (again, for the millionth time...it was awesome to finally meet you after all of these years)
Larry (we only spoke briefly at the pool, but still, it was quite surreal getting to meet someone who was a bit of a teenage hero of mine)
Adam Alive (where is my t-shirt!!!!! )
Jenna Alive (you are nothing like what I expected! I always figure you were seven feet tall and scary! You have quite possibly the cutest voice on the planet, though)
Nick Vance (yeah, okay, so we've technically met in the past...whatever...you are an amazing man, and if you ever venture to Ohio, look me up, and we will pop pills and drink a lot of fucking alcohol)
Lee A (I didn't talk to you much, but you were drunk, and you were awesome)

I'm sure I forgot people, and events, and things...but...well, I'm sorry. I'm going off memory, and memory isn't what it use to be.

"Go to hell you fucking parasite!!!!!" screamed the man on the phone. Man, I love my job.

After five or six nights in a row of very little, and piss poor sleep, I am officially exhausted. I feel like I'm about to crash.

The next six days better make up for the last six months.

The Casino Royale remake looks awesome, and I really like the look of Daniel Craig as the new Bond. You can check it out here: http://www.apple.com/trailers/sony_pictures/casinoroyale/

Also, Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby, the new Will Ferrel movie, looks hilarious:

[music |Ryan Adams - Damn, Sam (I Love A Woman That Rains)]

1.5 days until Jen gets here, 3.5 days til the fest....

Guh!!! Times like this I wish I would have purchased that Time Manipulator.

Today at work I got yelled at by a woman for thirty minutes over the phone, and she repeated herself about fifteen times (she then proceeded to apologize, and let me know that she realizes it's not my fault, that I'm just a messenger, and that she just needed to vent). It's amazing, the angry phone calls are generally so hilarious, that it's hard to take it personally, or really let them bug you. All you can do is chuckle, and shrug. Working in a corporate office phone center also helps you realize how stupid people are.

Observations...people who call from the south tend to be far friendlier and more laid back. People who call from Oregon and California tend to be fucking crazy.

[music |Drag the River - All -N- All]

I'm updating out of boredom.

Kroger is going pretty well. I like the job, and the people seem cool. I think this will work out nicely. Quiting Prestige was the best thing I ever did. I fucking hated that job.

Last night was Team Stray at Southgate House, where they more or less played to an empty room and a dead crowd. Matt H and I were there, though, and that's all that matters. There was free beer for us cool kids, so that also made it sweet. They sounded great, and it's a shame more people didn't come out to see them.

Today I cleaned the house, did laundry, and other preparatory functions that will make the next three days easier on me. I also burnt a lot of cds for the trip to Baltimore. Jen gets here Wednesday (as if you didn't know that already), and then the rest of the week will be whatever it happens to be. But hopefully amazing. I don't remember the last time I was this excited...well, probably in November before I left for the PPMB camping trip. I think I'm probably more excited this time though, due to the inclusion of Jen, and even more people being there.

I just want everyone that was at the bonfire last night to know, that the cider I drank when I got home was delicious, and a very nice nightcap. Also, it was a nice change of pace, Mike being the drunk one, and me being the sober driver.

[music |Lucero - No Roses No More]

Tonight, or this morning I suppose, is one of those times where I want to curl up, pass out, and not think about anything. Unfortunately I'm suffering from anxiety, insomnia, and am unable to sleep. I hate when I let myself get like this.

My first day of work went pretty well. I got to listen in on some pretty funny phone calls. Taylor, an incredibly attractive girl I work with, had a guy ask her if she was married, with every intention of apparently proposing to her. Oh, the reason he called was to inform us that our "Citrus Drop soda tastes like crap". I'm not making any generalizations, but we receive a lot of calls from the south. Okay, so maybe I am.

I work again tomorrow for seven hours. I'm in the training process, so basically all I do is listen in on phone calls for the first week or so. I'm suppose to just get a feel for the database/computer systems, and how to handle customers. Whatever, I'll let them pay me to do literally nothing.

Tonight = ugh...

Finals are done, and they went okay. About as well as expected.

Geography exam: A
Econ exam: D
German exam: C
Astronomy exam: D

Yeah, I'm a model student. It was a terrible quarter -- my own fault -- and I'm glad it's over. I start summer classes in July. Yay! Whatever it takes to get done with school.

Tomorrow I start my new job, and I'm pretty excited. Money!

The fest is sneaking up on us I tell ya. This last week will drag, I just know it. Jen gets here Wednesday afternoon, we pick up our rental car Thursday morning, and then we're on our way to Baltimore. Sex, booze, music, good friends, scandal!! It's been a long time coming, and I think I've earned it. I hope the entire week goes smoothly.

I picked up Brian Azzarello's Loveless "A Kin of Homecoming" today. Looks awesome methinks. Takes place in the old west, and looks incredibly violent. Supposedly it's a bit of a Bonnie & Clyde like story, but set right after the Civil War. I also grabbed the first two issues of Garth Ennis' Fury: Peacemaker, if it's good I'll grab the last four issues of the series. I passed on Civil War: Frontline. I flipped through it, and it didn't look like something I'd enjoy.

I also bought some hot ass western shirts, because according to Matt, girls dig em. I also bought two shirts for work from Macy's, marked down from $90 to $14 each. Not too shabby, and they're pretty sexy too.
